LanternsSince ancient times, garden lanterns have been used to symbolise an important cultural or celebratory event. Nowadays, they are still used to create these festive qualities as well as an environmentally friendly lighting solution. Our Lantern Collection adds elegance and beauty to a garden and creates excellent ambience. They can be placed within the garden to softly accentuate pathways, delineate areas of the garden or gently illuminate an outdoor entertaining area. As highly adaptable pieces, you can hang them in a tree limb, attach them to a post or rest them on a flat surface (a garden bed or table). |

At Tuscan Path, we understand the decorative potential of garden ornaments, structures and sculptured pieces. Lovely garden decor can transform your garden, give your garden an air of sophistication and also provide focal points.
Deciding what garden decor is right for you and your garden is sometimes more difficult than deciding what plants to buy. It is important to spend some time working out what would look best in your home and where you might place it.
You may even choose to ask yourself these questions before making your final decision:
1. What am I trying to achieve with this décor piece?
Does it enhance the living space to which it will be added?
It is really important to think your specific garden or outdoor space and how you can enhance it with the pieces you choose. The piece you choose when you simply want to add an accent is very different from a piece that is used to create a focal point. It is important to have an idea of how it will fit into the landscape.
2. Is it in-keeping with the theme of the garden or outdoor area?
Every piece you choose should continue the story that your garden or outdoor area has started. For example, a Buddha statue looks great in an oriental style garden because it adds to the general theme of the area. So try to find garden ornaments that add to or complete what your landscaping features and plantings are trying to portray
3. How many pieces will work best in the given space?
Decor pieces should be a focal point in the garden, drawing the viewer’s eye toward it. Too many different pieces will look cluttered and detract from one another. However, multiples of the same ornament can make a spectacular statement.
4. Will it ‘fit’ the given area?
When choosing décor pieces, it is important to get the proportions right. Small pieces risk looking misplaced. Overly large pieces will dominate the space and draw the attention completely away from the other aspects of the garden. A good tip for seeing if the ornament will look right in a given area is to make a cardboard cutout of it, and place it in different locations until you find the one that works the best.
5. Does it need to serve a dual purpose?
Most pieces are simply for decorative purposes, but others serve multiple purposes. For example a birdbath can be used to feed and water birds as well as simply looking decorative.
6. What will ‘frame’ the piece?
It is important to consider the colours and textures that will be beside and behind the piece. For example, a white statue makes a striking contrast in front of a leafy green plant.
Aim to choose garden décor pieces that fit in with your general garden theme and style of your home. Always remember – garden décor is not a permanent fixture in your garden; so don’t be afraid to relocate it or take it with you if you move!
